THEY SAY BEAUTY IS IN THE BLUR ~
Just to offer up something different, and experiment around, here’s an image that’s out of my style. Last week in Santa Fe, NM I decided to break out the EF200mm f/2.8L II which I haven’t used much lately. This lens is fantastic! Long lenses are great for compressing the depth of an image, and this image is seriously compressed, not just because it’s 200mm but because I used it wide open at f/2.8. The foreground branch is about 10 feet away, but the blur is a distance ranging from 20 feet to maybe 40 miles (those are mountains in the distance). You cannot make make this image straight-out-of-the-camera with wide to medium angle lens. I’ve noticed that most photographers do not use long lenses in tight situations, myself included. But when you do, you get a completely different image, and one that stands out and has beautiful blur. That’s what this image is about…the blur. This is un-cropped and basically unedited.
